Khata is your customer ledger for daily credit (udhaar). Add customers, record what they took or paid, and VyajPay shows You’ll Get and You’ll Give totals at the top.

What Khata is for

Khata is the digital version of the paper notebook. Use it for shop credit, lending small amounts to friends, or tracking who owes whom in a household.

Before you start

  • Signed in to VyajPay.
  • To share the ledger or send WhatsApp reminders, the customer must have a phone number.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the Khata tab

On the bottom navigation, tap Khata. The list opens with a search bar, balance summary card, and the customer list.
  2. Add a customer

Tap the + button. Enter a name (required). Phone number is optional but recommended if you want to share the ledger or send WhatsApp reminders.
  3. Or import from contacts

Tap the contact-picker icon. VyajPay filters to numeric phones and strips non-digits, keeping the last 10 digits. Useful when typing a name from scratch is slow.
  4. Open the customer to add transactions

Tap any customer row to open Customer Detail. From there, use “You Gave” or “You Got” buttons to record amounts.
  5. Swipe to delete

Drag a customer row to the left. A red delete background appears. Complete the swipe to confirm. Linked customers (synced with another VyajPay user) cannot be deleted from the list — unlink first.

VyajPay blocks the create with the message: "Customer with this number already exists." Open the existing customer instead, or use a different number.
You’ll Get = sum of every customer with a positive balance (they owe you). You’ll Give = absolute sum of every customer with a negative balance (you owe them). Settled (zero-balance) customers contribute nothing.
The list defaults to most-recent activity. Search by name or mobile from the search bar. Filter chip is available for Active / Settled / Linked states.
