Share a loan with your borrower in VyajPay

Send the loan you created to your borrower’s VyajPay account so both of you see the same ledger in real time. Sharing happens at the borrower level — once they accept, every loan you have with them syncs automatically.

What sharing actually does

VyajPay calls this a Synced Ledger. You (the lender) send a one-time sync request to a borrower’s VyajPay account. When they accept, every loan you have with that borrower — and every loan you add later — appears on their device with live payment updates flowing in both directions.

The sync card on the Borrower Detail screen is where the whole flow happens. It moves through four stages: Not connected, Sync request pending, Synced Ledger, and Unlink request pending. The button on the card changes as you move between stages.

Before you start

  • The borrower profile in your app must have a phone number saved.
  • You need an active internet connection at the moment you tap Sync.
  • Your own VyajPay profile must have a verified mobile number — open Settings → Edit Profile if it is missing.
  • Your borrower must be on VyajPay using the same phone number you saved for them. If they are not, the button reads Invite instead of Sync.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the borrower in VyajPay

Go to the Borrowers tab and tap the borrower you want to share with. The Borrower Detail screen opens.
  2. Tap the Sync button on the sync card

Near the top of the Borrower Detail screen, find the sync card. While the status reads UNLINKED, the action button shows “Sync”. Tap it to send a share request.
  3. Pass the pre-checks

The borrower must have a phone number saved. Your device must be online. Your own VyajPay profile must have a linked mobile number — if it is missing, VyajPay shows: “Link your mobile number to share this loan with your borrower.”
  4. Wait for the borrower to accept

The sync card flips to “Ledger Sync Request — ⏳ Sync Request Pending (Tap to Cancel).” VyajPay writes the request to the borrower’s account. You can tap Cancel anytime before they respond.
  5. Borrower accepts in their Received tab

On the borrower’s phone, the request appears under Borrowers → Received tab. They tap “Accept Loan Agreement”, read the consent dialog, and confirm with “I Accept & Agree”.
  6. Ledger goes live

Your sync card flips to “Synced Ledger · Securely linked · tap for details”. Loans and payments now stream both ways in real time.

What gets shared (and what does not)

When the borrower accepts, the following loan fields cross over to their device:

  • Loan amount and interest rate
  • Interest type — Flat, Reducing, or Interest-Only
  • Start date
  • Reminder unit and frequency
  • EMI count and fixed EMI amount (for Interest-Only loans)
  • The note on the loan
  • Loan status — Active / Closed

The borrower also sees your name and phone number so they can confirm who is sharing the loan.

Stays private to you
Your personal notes inside customer/borrower profiles, your other borrowers, your contacts, and anything in Digital Locker are never shared. Locker is marked PRIVATE by design.

Android vs iOS

Android
Sync card sits at the top of the Borrower Detail screen. Confirmation shows an Android-style dialog and a quick toast at the bottom.
iOS
Sync card sits at the top of the Borrower Detail screen. Confirmation shows an iOS-style alert. All 12 in-app languages are supported.
Both platforms behave the same — same stages, same buttons, same messages. Only the look of the confirmation dialog differs.

Frequently asked questions

No. Sharing is at the borrower level. Once the borrower accepts the sync request, every active loan you have with them — Flat, Reducing or Interest-Only — becomes visible on their device. New loans you add later are shared automatically.
They need the VyajPay app on Android or iOS, and they must have signed in with the same phone number you saved in their borrower profile. If the numbers don’t match, the share request never lands in their Received tab.
Only when there are no active loans and no outstanding balance. VyajPay blocks unlink with: “Ledger cannot be unlinked while active loans exist. Close all active loans with this lender before unlinking.” If there is an outstanding balance, the message reads: “Ledger cannot be unlinked while there is an outstanding balance of {amount}. Please settle the balance before unlinking to maintain accurate financial records.”
No. While the borrower is LINKED or the request is PENDING, deletion is blocked: “Cannot delete a synced borrower. Unlink first.” Unlink first (after closing loans and clearing balance), then delete.
If they decline, the pending request is removed and your sync card returns to UNLINKED — no message is shown to you, so you can simply tap Sync again. If they never act on the request, you can tap Cancel on your sync card to withdraw it.
No. Only the shared loan fields cross over: amount, interest rate, interest type (Flat / Reducing / Interest-Only), start date, reminder schedule, EMI count, fixed EMI amount (for Interest-Only), and the public note on the loan. Your other borrowers, your personal notes, and your contact list stay private.
When the sync card detects the borrower is not yet a VyajPay user, the button label switches from “Sync” to “Invite”. Tap Invite to send them the app link. Once they install VyajPay and sign in with the same phone number, come back to the borrower screen and tap Sync.
No. Loan sharing is in-app only between two signed-in VyajPay users. There is no public approval link. For one-off proof, use the Payment Receipt PDF from the loan detail screen — that can be shared on WhatsApp, email or SMS.
