Frequently asked questions
Interest-Only: outstanding equals principal (interest is perpetual). Flat / Reducing: outstanding equals totalPayable − paymentsReceived, never below zero.
For Flat and Reducing loans, the total payable includes interest, so Outstanding can exceed (Borrowed − Paid). For Interest-Only loans, Outstanding stays at principal regardless of how much interest has been paid.
Total Borrowed and Total Paid include closed loans. Outstanding only counts active loans, so closing a loan drops its outstanding to zero in the summary.
